The favorite place on the train is at the end. Space is at a premium. Rick spends 99% of his time here.
Along the way we went through lots of landscapes, open water, rivers, tide was in going up, out coming back, small towns most without any signs saying their names. Here are some images on the way up:
The train stopped to do a "run by" so passengers get off and take videos and pictures of the train running by. Here is everyone waiting for the train and Rick on the end as the train reversed directions to pick us up again. He's going to be in a lot of home videos:
We ate in Rockland and I had my first whole lobster of the trip. I asked the market price and I thought the waitress said $50 but she said heavens no they would never be that much, I said $15. Of course in Omaha they could be $50.
Then Debbie and I, Rick and Mark explored Rockland. Lots of art galleries.
Here is an Lindsey Inn, the Rockland Public Library, the courthouse and the Wyeth center that is in an old church.
N C Weyeth: Black Head Rock on Monhegan Island
Robert Henri's version of the Black Head. Henri was from Nebraska and ended up in the Ashcan school of artists.
John Fitzgerald's Torching used to draw fish up into nets.
Winslow Homer.
We returned to Brunswick Station, boarded the bus for Portland to get ready for the second car party.
At the car party we were joined by Don Libby, Rick's Air Force friend, Scott Benson and wife Beth Gallie. Here we are sans Scott aboard the Puget Sound.
Here are a few more pics from the night. We ended back on the Dearing with Charlie making more Texas Milk Shakes.
